Wow , the intricacies of the state of Israel are astounding and are not understood by the majority of people alive today in the UK and Europe. The lack of marches on the streets in the UK following the killing of over 600,000 Arabs in Syria by Assad is astounding. The lack of brain power seems to be to blame for the ignorance , or deliberate disregard for life in a country where world class citizens and inventors have improved the wellbeing of the citizens of the world. Israel is brave and intelligent. May God bless them.
That’s the first time I’ve been called a ‘leftist’ of any degree. You obviously didn’t read the rest of the article, which is quite hardline against the Palestinians or their possible statehood.
Interestingly, Freddie Forsyth - who died just yesterday (and who I in fact met and had discussions with) - felt the same about Blair and the Iraq war. And Freddie was as hard right as they come. An arch Conservative, a Brexiteer and later Reform supporter, as well as being strongly pro-Israel.
It’s a popular view of Blair and the Iraq war, first invented to delegitimise the global authority of the US and the UK, and subsequently so successful and pervasive that otherwise sensible commentators embraced it. I still take it as a red flag that the writer is a mug and not worth reading.
Wow. So you’re concluding that Freddie Foryth was a ‘mug’. LOL. He managed to score one of the highest ever on ‘who wants to be a millionaire’, and was rated as one of the most intelligent guests they ever had on.
My view is what the hell did Iraq have to do with British interests? They should have gone in against Mugabe whose thugs were robbing white farmers at machete point. Young couples who we gave £10 to set up lives in what was then Rhodesia - as we did with £10 poms to Australia - and later they’re seeing their families killed by Mugabe’s thugs. THAT is who we should have gone up against, and taken him out and hanged him in front of his own Parliament building for the world to see. And if you think that’s a ‘left-wing view’, good luck to you.
I really enjoyed Forsyth’s books, but if he fell for the revisionist crap about Iraq, then, yes, he was a mug. Clever as you like, but duped.
Iraq had invaded Kuwait, and spent 12 years thumbing its nose at UNHSC resolutions. It had binary chemical WMDs, if not nuclear. It was a threat to the planet; Zimbabwe was not.
The very essence of Palestinian ideology makes it so that their main goal is to destroy our country, not have one of their own. If they were to get a state, it wouldn't mean peace, it would mean the start of another war, but this time with a full country. Those of us, including Yigal Amir, who rejected the Oslo accords were not radicals, we simply saw the obvious. What Yitzchak Rabin did, by bringing in the PLO from Tunisia, setting them up in Ramallah and arming them with heavy weaponry was bound to get Jews killed. Therefore, under Jewish law he was liable for death as a rodef. Over 1000 Jews died in the second intifada because of the actions of Rabin. Because we see the truth of the Palestinian movement, we will oppose any moves to grant them a state in Judea, Samaria, Gaza, or anywhere in Israel.

Your analysis is spot on. Thanks.
Not as long as the Palestinians hate us more than they love their children.
Great article, John!! May use a few quotes in a JEWDICIOUS piece. Looking forward to next installment. -MG
I got to the bit about an arrest warrant for Tony Blair, and decided not to waste any more time on the ramblings of a dyed in the wool leftist

I think he was being sarcastic in order to point out the absurdity of an arrest warrant being issued against Bibi.
